Expert on Maritime Labour Convention
An Expert on Maritime Labour Convention is a person appointed by a company to inspect and ensure compliance with the requirements of the International Labour Organization's Maritime Labour Convention, 2006, in accordance with standard A5.1.4 and taking into account guideline B5.1.4 of that Convention. The main functions of an expert in the field of maritime labour protection:
- - monitoring and ensuring that the ship has a labour safety management system in place;
- - regular inspection of workplaces on the vessel, the technical condition of which affects the health and safety of crew members;
- - identifying, assessment, management and informing crew members about risks;
- - control over the safety of ship's crew members when operating ship's equipment, tools and performing ship's work;
- - control over working conditions at workplaces, as well as the correct use of personal and collective protection equipment by the ship's crew;
- - reviewing and submitting to the Company's management proposals on creating safe labour conditions received from the ship's crew;
- - contributing to the efficiency of the ship's labour protection committees (commissions);
- - Ensuring the development of process charts and/or safety instructions for characteristic hazardous shipboard operations;
- -control of crew training in labour protection and verification of relevant knowledge;
- - ensuring special assessment of labour conditions at workplaces
The volume of the training program "Expert on Maritime Labour Convention" is 40 ac. hours.
According to the results of end-of-course assessment in the International Dangerous Goods and Containers Association, graduates receive certificates of advanced training and "Expert on Maritime Labour Convention" of international standard.
