Marine and inland water transport

Within the framework of "Maritime and inland water transport" training direction, specialists from among the managerial, engineering and rank-and-file personnel of enterprises engaged in the transportation of dangerous goods and other cargoes by sea and inland waterway transport, officials responsible for ensuring labor protection conditions in maritime navigation, managers and specialists of warehouses and terminals pass training.

In addition, at the request of enterprises, exclusive training programs can be developed and implemented.

In the courses, students study various international regulatory documents, in particular, the UN Model Regulations on the Transport of Dangerous Goods, the Globally Harmonized System for the Classification of Hazards and Labeling of Chemicals, the International Maritime Dangerous Goods Code (IMDG Code), the European Agreement concerning the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Inland Waterways (ADN), IMO/ILO/UNECE Code of Practice for Packing Cargo in Cargo Transport Units (CTU Code), International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS 74), International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution from Ships (MARPOL 73/78), the International Convention on Safe Containers (CSC), the International Labor Organization Convention № 186 “Maritime Labor Convention”, the OCIMF Mooring Equipment Guidelines and other international regulatory documents and standards. In addition, the Russian regulatory framework applied in the field of cargo transportation by sea is being studied.

Candidates for training must have a higher or secondary specialized education, or at the time of training they must be trained in programs of higher or secondary specialized education. Upon completion of training, course graduates who have successfully passed the exam receive certificates of advanced training of the established form. Graduates from among the management and engineering staff, who have studied under the program "Handling activities in relation to dangerous goods" and have sufficient experience in working with dangerous goods, may, on their personal applications, be nominated for certification by the International Dangerous Goods and Containers Association as advisers on safe transport of dangerous goods. The validity period of the adviser's certificate is 5 years. Graduates from among the management and engineering staff who have studied under the program "Expert in the field of labor protection in maritime navigation" may, on their personal applications, be nominated for certification by the International Dangerous Goods and Containers Association as experts in the field of labor protection in maritime navigation. The expert certificate is valid for 5 years.
